In a surprise celebration video uploaded over the weekend, we saw the makers of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film arranging a cake, with the full crew in attendance. The occasion is Rajinikanth's 51st anniversary in the movie business, an event that began with the legend opening the gates in the 1975 Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal, which was released in August. In this short video, we see the whole crew taking a break during the shoot to cut a cake with the number 51 written on it. “51 Years Of Swag”, it said as the superstar cut the cake. Co-stars Simran and Raashi Khanna can be seen next to the star along with the film’s director. Both Simran and Rajinikanth also appear to be in full costume.
It was after months of speculation and several changes in the core crew that Superstar Rajinikanth’s next film was announced to be directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, director of two back-to-back hits, Dragon (starring Pradeep Ranganathan) and Oh My Kadavule (with Ashok Selvan). Sundar C and Cibi Chakravarthy were earlier attached to the film. Dharman: The Deadly Doctor is the film’s full title. The first-look poster features Rajinikanth in a striking, gritty medical thriller avatar.
The film is co-produced by R Mahendran of Turmeric Media. Apart from Ashwath, the core team includes Anirudh’s music and Anbariv as action choreographers. Niketh Bommi is the DOP and Pradeep E Ragav is the editor. MR Karthik Rajkumar is the film’s production designer.
Meanwhile, superstars Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth will soon reunite on screen as co-stars. KHxRK (tentative title) has been in the works for several months now, since both the actors announced their intention to team up again. The film is bankrolled by Red Giant Movies. The film will be directed by Nelson, who directed Rajini in Jailer and the upcoming Jailer 2.
