Less than three weeks after a pooja ceremony on September 25 formally launched Sivakarthikeyan’s 27th film as a lead actor, the makers have announced Sai Abhyankkar as the music composer. Tentatively titled SK27, the Tamil feature marks the first collaboration between the actor and the young musician. The film is written and directed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan.
Balakrishnan steps behind the camera for a second feature after Parking (2023), a drama starring Harish Kalyan and MS Bhaskar about two neighbours locked in a dispute. That debut took the National Film Award for Best Tamil Film at the 71st National Film Awards, alongside a screenplay honour for the director and a supporting-actor prize for Bhaskar.
Sathya Jyothi Films backs the Sivakarthikeyan venture, with Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan producing and TG Thyagarajan presenting. Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead, sharing the screen with the actor for the first time. Om Prakash handles cinematography, R Kalaivanan edits, and A Rajesh oversees art direction.
Kayadu Lohar's other ongoing projects include the TJ Gnanavel directorial Suriya 48 and Mari Selvaraj's Manjanathi, which was launched earlier this month.
Abhyankkar came to prominence through independent singles including Katchi Sera and Aasa Kooda, before moving into scoring films. The musician is the son of singers Tippu and Harini. Abhyankkar, who last scored Suriya's Karuppu and Vijay Sethupathi's Baththa, will also compose for Dhanush's upcoming film with Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, D56.
Sivakarthikeyan also has Seyon has part of his pipeline. Seyon, the actor’s 26th film, is directed by Sivakumar Murugesan and marks a second association with Raaj Kamal Films International after Amaran (2024). His co-stars include Bhagyashri Borse and Raj B Shetty.
No release window has been announced for the film. Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan has expressed confidence that both his upcoming projects, Seyon and SK27, will live up to audience expectations, citing assurances from the directors of the two films.
Other cast members in Seyon include Bala Saravanan, Aruldoss, Raichal Rabecca and Singampuli. R. Mahendran is also producing the film, under his banner Turmeric Media. The film's technical team includes Vivek Vijayakumar as director of photography, San Lokesh as editor, and Supreme Sundar as stunt coordinator. Music for the film is composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
