Sai Pallavi Joins Dhanush and Sreeleela's 'D55'
Sai Abhayankar and Sreeleela have already joined the film.
After two high-profile announcements, the third big news from the crew is that Sai Pallavi has joined Rajkumar Periasamy's D55, reuniting with Dhanush in a full-fledged role after Maari 2. Sreeleela and Sai Abhyankkar have already joined the film. Announcing her entry, Wunderbar Films posted, “She’s about grace and strength - all at once. Welcoming everybody’s favourite @Sai_Pallavi92 on board #D55. The hit combo returns to the big screen.”
The film will mark the director's first on-screen collaboration with Dhanush. Dhanush also has Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja and starring Mamitha Baiju, awaiting a release date. The upcoming film is headed for a summer 2026 release and is written by Vignesh Raja and Alfred Prakash. Theni Eswar, Sreejith Sarang and Mayapandi will make up the remaining technical crew. Vignesh grew to fame for directing the investigative thriller Por Thozhil, co-starring Ashok Selvan and Sarathkumar in 2023.
Director Rajkumar Periasamy delivered a blockbuster with Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Sai Pallavi and Geetha Kailasam in 2024. Dhanush was last seen in his own directorial, the Tamil film Idli Kadai, as well as Aanand L Rai's Tere Ishk Mein, alongside Kriti Sanon. Written by Himanshu Sharma and Neeraj Yadav, Tere Ishk Mein also starred Prakash Raj, Ravi Kishan and Priyanshu Painyulli. With music by AR Rahman and lyrics by Irshad Kamil, the film was produced by T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions. The film became the first ₹100 crore Bollywood grosser for Dhanush, who had earlier appeared in Hindi titles like Raanjhanaa, Shamitabh—co-starring Amitabh Bachchan—and Atrangi Re, which was a direct-to-streaming release during the pandemic.
Sai Pallavi was last seen in the Telugu film Thandel last year, and will next be seen in Ek Din, alongside Junaid Khan. The upcoming Hindi film will be released in May 2026 and is a remake of a popular Thai film.
