The Aamir Khan production is now geared for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026.
Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi's romantic drama Ek Din, initially slated for late 2025, has booked its new release date as May 1, 2026. Directed by Sunil Pandey and produced under the Aamir Khan Productions banner, the project is a romantic drama that serves as the Indian remake of the 2016 Thai hit One Day, directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun. The screenplay has been developed by writers Sneha Desai—known for her work on Laapataa Ladies (2023)—and Spandan Mishra, who have adapted the original story for Indian audiences.
The production banner unveiled a new poster along with the new release date on social media, with the caption: “In the chaos of life, love will find you... Ek Din ❤️”
The narrative follows a romantic arc between Rohan, played by Junaid Khan, and Nisha, played by Sai Pallavi, whose lives intersect during a trip to Japan. The story is said to be a tender, understated take on the romance genre, a rarity in the post-pandemic era. Much of the film was shot on location during the Sapporo Snow Festival, maintaining the setting of the original Thai film.
The film marks a major career step for Pallavi, marking her official debut in Hindi cinema after establishing a prominent career in the South. In addition to this project, Pallavi was recently seen in Amaran (2024) and Thandel (2025). Her presence in Bollywood has been further solidified by her casting as Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated Ramayana adaptation, opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
Junaid Khan’s recent work includes his 2024 acting debut in the Netflix period drama Maharaj. He followed his streaming debut with his first theatrical release, the 2025 romantic comedy Loveyapa, where he starred alongside Khushi Kapoor. Although his work was well-received in Maharaj (2024), reviews for Loveyapa (2025) were mixed, making Ek Din a shot at redemption.
Ek Din features an experienced creative team under producers Aamir Khan, Mansoor Khan, and Aparna Purohit. The film’s soundtrack is composed by Ram Sampath, with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil. This collaboration marks a significant reunion for Aamir Khan and Mansoor Khan, who are producing together for the first time since the iconic 2008 romantic-comedy, Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na.
