Actor Saif Ali Khan recalled the horrifying events of the night that left him with six knife wounds, following which he was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for surgeries.
In a recent interview with Delhi Times, actor Saif Ali Khan addressed what happened during an attack that took place at his home in Mumbai last month. Khan recalled the horrifying events of the night that left him with six knife wounds, following which he was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for surgeries.
In the interview, Khan recalled that he and his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan were asleep, when one of their house helps alerted them to the intruder’s presence in their house around 2 am. When Khan rushed towards Jeh’s room, he found a masked man standing over his younger son’s bed, brandishing “sharp hexa blades” in his hands.

Khan said that “something took over him” as he grabbed the intruder and pushed him down; however, in retaliation, the masked man stabbed the actor in the back and neck multiple times. "I couldn't handle it after a while as there were two knives in action. I was praying that someone could get this guy off me at this point," Khan mused. In the end, his house help Geeta intervened and helped to pull the attacker away.
Eventually, an injured Khan managed to lock the invader inside Jeh's room. But the assailant then managed to escape via the same way he had entered the residence: through the drainpipe in the kids' bathroom.
The actor also recalled a conversation with his wife Kareena Kapoor in the aftermath of the attack. “I said, I kind of feel some pain. There’s something wrong with my back. She said — you go to the hospital and I’ll go to my sister’s house. She was making calls frantically, but nobody was up. And we looked at each other, and I said, ‘I’m fine. I’m not going to die.’ And Taimur also asked me, ‘Are you going to die?’ I said, ‘No.’”

Khan then spoke about his decision to take Taimur to the hospital with him after his son asked if he could come along. Addressing his son’s presence, Saif explained, “He was absolutely composed. He was fine. He said, ‘I’m coming with you.’ And I thought, if something happens... I was getting a lot of comfort just from looking at him at that time.”
After reaching the hospital, Khan realised the full extent of his injuries as doctors informed him that a four-inch blade had penetrated his shoulder blade, coming very close to his spinal cord. He revealed that it was a "massive stab," and that the knife had nicked the protective covering of his spinal cord which caused spinal fluid leakage and temporary numbness in his leg. "That's how close it came; just one more millimetre, and we'd be talking paralysis.”
