Salman Khan Gives Go-Ahead To Mahesh Narayanan's Period Action-Thriller: Reports
Salman Khan is likely to collaborate with 'Malik' director Mahesh Narayanan on a film set in the 1970s to 1990s.
Superstar Salman Khan is looking at a major shift as he is likely to team up with acclaimed Malayalam film director Mahesh Narayanan for his forthcoming feature. According to reports, Khan is in advanced talks with the filmmaker for a period action thriller.
Narayanan is known for movies like Take Off (2017), Ariyippu (2022), and the two Fahadh Faasil-starrers C U Soon (2020) and Malik (2021).
Citing sources close to the development, Pinkvilla reported that Khan has had multiple meetings with the director, including one that took place last week in Mumbai. The report stated that the duo is jamming on several ideas, with Khan having given a "go-ahead to the filmmaker on a period-thriller with action."
"The film in discussion will be set in the 1970s to 1990s, and Mahesh will now come back for a full-length narration. It’s a character in a world that Salman has not explored before. Things look positive at the moment for this collaboration," the source said. Khan, who is keen to do a film out of his comfort zone, has liked the idea and things will be clearer on the project by the end of the year.
Khan has also been in talks with his Bajrangi Bhaijaan helmer Kabir Khan for a new collaboration, including an action thriller, a high-octane drama and the Bajrangi Bhaijaan sequel.
The actor is currently busy with Battle of Galwan, in which he features as an Army officer. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Battle of Galwan is based on India’s Most Fearless, the bestselling book by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, chronicling the Galwan Valley confrontation between Indian and Chinese forces in June 2020 — one of the most severe border clashes in over four decades.
Narayanan's next film will be the awaited Malayalam film Patriot, which marks Mohanlal and Mammootty’s reunion in key roles after a gap of 17 years since Twenty:20 (2008).
