Salman Khan has revealed he was in talks to headline 'Sitaare Zamneen Par' before Aamir Khan

Superstar Aamir Khan's latest sports comedy Sitaare Zameen Par, which released on Friday, has had quite a journey. After agreeing to star in the film initially, Aamir had reportedly put the project aside and considered other actors, including Farhan Akhtar, to headline the RS Prasanna directorial. One of the other big names who was approached for the film was Salman Khan and the superstar finally confirmed the same on Thursday, when he attended the premiere of the film.

"Did Aamir tell you the story behind the film?" Salman asked the media at the special star-studded screening. "I had heard the narration and I really loved the film. I even said yes, but then he called me saying, 'I am doing the film,'" Salman said.

The actor, last seen in Sikandar, quipped that he had "praised" the film so much that Aamir eventually decided to do it. "Aamir had also liked the film a lot, but at that time, he wasn't working on it, there was a bit of a load on him... the scripting and paperwork were in progress at that time."

Surprised at Salman's candid revelation, Aamir, who was standing next to him, told the media, "Can it happen that he agrees and I end up being part of it?"

A spiritual sequel to Aamir's 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par, the film also stars Genelia D'Souza. Sitaare Zameen Par is the second Hindi film of RS Prasanna after the 2017 comedy Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. The film is also the second release for Aamir post-pandemic after his 2022 drama Laal Singh Chadha.

Sitaare Zameen Par features Aamir as a suspended basketball coach who must serve community service by helping a team of players with disabilities prepare for a tournament. Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the film features 10 debutants, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
