This week's theatrical arrivals include the long-awaited release of Geetu Mohandas' gangster drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, Nayanthara and Kavin's new romantic-comedy Hi, and Matt Johnson's Anthony Bourdain biopic, Tony, among others.

Kannada:
This Kannada gangster drama, directed by Geetu Mohandas, stars Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in leading roles. Yash plays a dual role in the film, starring as a father his son. Shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, the film's themes revolve around loyalty, redemption, brutal action and the price to pay for love.
Yash plays Raya, with Nayanthara playing his sister, Ganga. Kiara Advani plays Nadia, Tara Sutaria is Rebecca, Huma Qureshi stars as Elizabeth, and Rukmini Vasanth plays Melissa. Other characters introduced include Sudev Nair as Karmadi, Akshay Oberoi as Tony, Balaji Manohar as Bheera and Darrell D'Silva as Salvador.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups opens in theatres on August 26.

Releasing this week in theatres is this modern love story starring Kavin as Mayilsamy, a young man who had given up on the idea of finding a partner until he falls in love with Nayanthara's Devayani, a spirited young woman. The film follows their love story, a seemingly one-sided one, and Mayilsamy's plans to ensure that Devayani falls in love with him as the two are set to marry.
Directed by Vishnu Edavan, Hi comes to theatres on August 28.
Directed by debutant Vignesh Srikanth, this romantic musical stars Arjun Das and Aditi Shankar and Sona Olickal in leading roles. With music composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab, the film follows a complicated love story between Das and Shankar, as Das struggles to recover from a failed past romance with Olickal.

Based on Peter Heller's 2012 post-apocalyptic novel of the same name, The Dog Stars is directed by Ridley Scott and stars Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin in leading roles. Elordi plays Hig, a civilian pilot, alongside Bangley, an aloof Marine played by Brolin. Co-starring in the film are Margarent Qualley, Allison Janney, Guy Pierce and Benedict Wong. The film follows Hig and Bangley as they confront external threats in a world devestated by a flu pandemic that has wiped out humanity.
This dystopian science-fiction film comes to theatres on August 28.
Tony is a biographical film about Anthony Bourdain's early years as a chef, with stories from his 2000 memoir Kitchen Confidential. The biopic, starring Dominic Sessa as Bourdain, follows the story of the renowned chef through his inital years working in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Alongside Sessa are Emilia Jones, Dagmara Domińczyk, Leo Woodall, Stavros Halkias and Rich Sommer.
