Nayanthara On Yash and 'Toxic': 'When I First Met Him, It Felt Like I Was Entering Rocky Bhai's Kingdom'

In a rare appearance at a promotional event for a film, Tamil actress and star Nayanthara spoke about the gratifying effort that went behind Yash and Geetu Mohandas's upcoming film Toxic at its recent trailer launch in Bengaluru. She addressed the obvious question surrounding her rare appearance at a promotional event."It's not that I don't want to attend promotional events. I'm not very good at it, so I stay away from them," she began with a smile, not before adding that a call from Yash was all it took for her to make it to the event.

The actress, who plays Ganga, the sister of Yash's Raya in the film, spoke about the actor's tenacity. "I've worked with a lot of superstars. They're really good, and that's why they are superstars. But when I met Yash for the first time, I realised that he shared the same larger-than-life personality that he portrays on screen. I was like, "Oh, okay, am I actually entering this Rocky bhai’s kingdom or something?" I have never seen a more hardworking actor than him," she said.

Speaking about the actor's four-and-a-half-year-long wait to make this film a reality, Nayanthara expanded on the different things he had to sacrifice during this time. "He has literally sacrificed his life, his time, his time with his family, his time with his kids, his personal life, everything that he would've normally enjoyed as a human being."

The film also reunites her with Geetu Mohandas, the director-actor who shared screen space with Nayanthara in the 2005 Malayalam film Rappakal. Nayanthara spoke about the generous space that Mohandas held for every actor on set. "I was amazed at this woman and the kind of deep sensitivity that she has towards every actor that she's worked with. She just owns it," she said, not before giving a special shoutout to Kiara Advani, acknowledging that Toxic was going to be her best role yet.

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups will be released in theatres on 26 August, and will co-star Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria in pivotal roles.
