The Telugu superstar, in a conversation with THR India, spoke about the special relationship he shares with Vijay Kiragandur’s production house.
Prabhas, who was part of Prashanth Neel and Hombale Films' action epic Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire (2023), will partner with the production company for a three-film deal. The announcement, which came from Vijay Kiragandur’s popular Kannada production house in November last year, detailed that the three films will include a sequel to Salaar. In a brief exchange with The Hollywood Reporter India, Prabhas spoke about what makes his relationship with the production house special.
It’s Kiragandur’s passion that makes the production company stand out from the rest, says Prabhas. “It’s also the way he takes care of people. He’s easy-going, grounded, and we’ve become like family. We’re planning many films together.”
The three-film deal is an outcome of their shared love for cinema, the megastar believes. “I feel at home with him, right from our first film, Salaar. He stays close to his childhood friends and doesn’t go out much, just like me. That connection made things even more natural.” Hombale Films’ enviable repertoire includes blockbuster productions such as Yash's KGF films (2018, 2022), and Rishab Shetty’s Kantara (2022).
The Telugu star recalls a significant event from Hombale’s journey. “There’s one moment I remember clearly from K.G.F. It was Prashanth Neel’s first film (with the production company) and his second project overall, and the set caught fire. The budget was already high, and the whole team was stressed. At that point, Vijay sir said, ‘Relax, don’t worry about the money — get the product right’,” he recalls. It’s this undeterred approach that makes him unique. “I’ve heard similar stories from Kantara and other projects. He always tells the technicians, ‘Quality is most important for my films.’ That’s why I want to work with him, because he never compromises on quality.”
Prabhas, who was last seen in Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa (2025), will next be seen in Maruthi’s horror comedy The RajaSaab.
