Ask Mumbai’s top aesthetic dermatologists what’s changed about celebrity skin in the last few years, and the answer is consistent: nobody wants to look “done” anymore. The dramatic lift, the overfilled cheek, the frozen brow are all out. What’s in is skin that looks like it’s simply having a very good year — regeneration over restriction, repair over replace. The old flex was looking transformed. The new one is looking untouched — and it costs a great deal more to fake.
Here’s what that actually looks like in the treatment room.
The Quiet Favourite: Polynucleotides
Purified DNA fragments are injected to trigger tissue repair at a cellular level, rather than add volume. Dr. Jaishree Sharad, who has over 26 years of experience in aesthetic dermatology, points to Rejuran specifically — originally from South Korea and built on highly purified polynucleotides that improve elasticity and skin quality.
Dr. Rashmi Shetty, who treats many of the country’s most recognisable faces and owns Ra Aesthetics & Dermatology, mixes polynucleotides with non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid depending on what a client’s skin needs that week — hydration, healing or damage control after a punishing shoot schedule.
“Clients who request this want healthy, glowing skin rather than dramatic cosmetic enhancement," says Dr. Jaishree Sharad, director, Jaishree Sharad Clinic.
“I see the same appetite for multi-ingredient hydration in NCTF, a blend of hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants. I recommend this before big appearances for its fresher, smoother and more luminous payoff with minimal downtime," says Dr. Geeta Mehra Fazalbhoy, founder, Skin & You Clinic.
No More Fillers: Skin Boosters
Hydration without added shape — the category doctors are careful to distinguish from traditional fillers. Dr. Sharad names Skinvive for its “glass skin” glow and Sunekos, a hyaluronic acid and amino-acid blend, for notoriously difficult areas like the under-eyes and neck. Dr. Geeta Mehra Fazalbhoy, founder, Skin & You Clinic, recommends Saypha Rich Hydrator, timed to campaigns and film promotions.
“[Saypha Rich Hydrator] restores a healthy glow and softens signs of fatigue without altering the face’s architecture. These are pre-event treatments, not identity changes," says Dr. Fazalbhoy.
Playing the Long Game: Biostimulators
For structural loss rather than surface dullness: Sculptra, made from poly-L-lactic acid, encourages the body’s own collagen production instead of replacing lost volume, with results building gradually over months — now used on ageing hands and the neck and décolletage, not just the face. Dr. Jaishree Sharad adds Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite) to the category for its gradual firming effect.
“Sculptra encourages the body’s own collagen production rather than simply replacing lost volume," says Dr. Harshna Bijlani, founder, The AgeLess Clinic.
“Many celebrities favour this approach because the results are subtle, progressive and incredibly natural," adds Dr. Fazalbhoy.
The Non-invasive Shift: Lasers, RF & HIFU
The scalpel has been sidelined for tools that reach the same depth using heat, sound and light, no incision required. Dr. Harshna Bijlani, founder of The AgeLess Clinic, flags the Fotona 4D and 6D Laser Lift, layering laser modes down to the eye area and jawline. Dr. Rashmi Shetty’s clinic, Ra Skin and Aesthetics, uses radiofrequency to coax collagen and elastin without downtime, alongside HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) to lift tissue and soften jowls and double chins over two to three months.
Dr. Madhuri Agarwal, founder and medical director of Yavana Skin & Hair Clinic, notes that HIFU and monopolar RF typically take two to three sessions across a year, with visible lift by month two or three. For resurfacing, Dr. Sharad points to the Quanta Hybrid CO2 + Erbium laser. Dr. Fazalbhoy’s pick is carbon toning, which exfoliates and minimises pores in one session.
“Radiofrequency offers a gentle heating of the skin that builds collagen and elastin without downtime," says Dr. Rashmi Shetty.
Trend Spotting: Micro Botox and Thread Lifts
Botox hasn’t disappeared, but the dosing philosophy has. The frozen brow of a decade ago is gone, replaced by a lighter touch. The most surgical-adjacent option in current rotation are thread lifts.
Dr. Fazalbhoy also notes rising demand for treatments like Hair CYJ Hair Filler among people whose schedules mean constant heat styling and colour — combining hyaluronic acid with peptides to support density before thinning becomes visible, increasingly used as maintenance rather than crisis management.
“Micro doses of botox are tiny sprinkles that soften lines while keeping the face fully expressive," says Dr. Sonali Kohli, aesthetic dermatologist, Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
“Thread lifts are a needle-based, incision-free way to contour the jawline and cheeks or reposition sagging skin, with an immediate lift, full results by three months, and effects lasting 12 to 18 months," says Dr. Madhuri Agarwal, founder and medical director, Yavana Skin & Hair Clinic.
The Real Secret
Every doctor circled back to the same caveat: no single injection does the work alone. Dr. Shetty backs a regimented lifestyle with non-negotiable supplementation — an antioxidant, an anti-inflammatory, a hydrator and essential omegas. Her clinic’s signature RA GLAM 360-degree facial is built as a layered system: a mild antioxidant peel, muscle stimulation, red and blue light, micro-channelling at 0.3mm depth, high-pressure oxygen, finished with laser or IPL.
“Regimented lifestyle, relentless discipline, internal wellbeing come before any needle. It’s not one treatment, one pill or one magic injection," says Dr. Rashmi Shetty, founder, Ra Aesthetics.
“The biggest shift I see in celebrity skin right now is regeneration over restriction. The goal today is undetectable work. Healthy, luminous skin that moves, because true luxury is looking like yourself," says Dr. Sonali Kohli, Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
Biostimulators Injectables that don’t add volume directly but trick your skin into producing more of its own collagen over time.
Botulinum Toxin (Botox) Relaxes overactive muscles — the ones responsible for frown lines, crow’s feet, or a clenched jaw. The current trend is micro-dosing: just enough to soften lines without freezing expression.
Carbon Toning A laser facial that uses a layer of carbon to gently exfoliate, shrink pores and calm oily skin, with zero downtime. Popular the day before a shoot or red carpet because results are immediate and subtlemicro.
Dermal Fillers Pre-filled syringes, usually of hyaluronic acid, injected to restore volume or contour areas like cheeks or lips. Results are visible immediately and typically last six to 18 months.
Elastin The protein that works alongside collagen to give skin its stretch and bounce-back.
Exosomes Tiny particles that carry signals between cells to help skin repair itself. Used in regenerative facials to boost the effects microneedling.
Fotona 4D / 6D Laser Lift A laser facelift, minus the surgery. Uses multiple laser modes to treat different depths of skin in one session, with minimal downtime.
Hair Filler A scalp injectable combining hyaluronic acid with peptides, used to nourish thinning areas and support healthier-looking hair.
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) The same ultrasound technology used to image babies in the womb, redirected here to lift and tighten skin from underneath, without cutting it. Commonly used on the jawline, double chin and neck.
Microneedling RF (Radiofrequency) Tiny needles create micro-injuries in the skin while radiofrequency energy heats the deeper layers — the combination triggers more collagen production than either treatment alone. Used for fine lines, tightening and pore reduction.
Onda An energy-based device used for reducing fat and tightening skin on both the face and body.
Polynucleotides (PN) Purified DNA fragments, often derived from salmon, injected into the skin to trigger tissue repair and stimulate healing rather than simply adding volume. Currently one of the most in-demand treatment categories among celebrity clients. Rejuran is a well-known example.
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) A treatment that uses a concentrated portion of the patient’s own blood, rich in healing platelets, to encourage skin repair and rejuvenation.
Radiofrequency (RF) Uses controlled heat to gently warm the deeper layers of skin, encouraging the body to produce more collagen and elastin.
Saypha Rich Hydrator An injectable that hydrates skin using hyaluronic acid, without adding volume — unlike a traditional filler. Often used before major events to combat dullness and fatigue.
Sculptra An injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid that stimulates the skin’s own collagen production gradually, over several months, rather than delivering instant volume.
Skin Boosters Injectable treatments (like Skinvive or Sunekos) that focus purely on hydration and skin quality rather than adding shape or volume.
Thermage A radiofrequency-based skin-tightening treatment, commonly used on the face and body.
Thread Lift Fine Dissolvable threads inserted under the skin with no incisions, used to lift sagging skin and contour the jawline or cheeks.
Ultherapy A HIFU-based device, considered the gold standard for non-surgical skin lifting and tightening.
