Zee Studios South has rescheduled the worldwide release of Tamil romantic comedy Hi, starring Nayanthara and Kavin, to August 28 from its earlier August 14 slot. Directed by Vishnu Edavan with music by Jen Martin, the film’s posters tease the leads as apartment neighbours. The new date places Hi close to Yash’s August 26 release Toxic, which also features Nayanthara.

Zee Studios South shared on August 7 that Hi, the Tamil romantic comedy starring Nayanthara and Kavin, will be released worldwide on August 28 — a date change from its previously announced August 14 slot.

The announcement made on X read, "We know you've been waiting to say HI :) and here's when you finally can Mark your calendars for AUGUST 28 as the most heartwarming entertainer of the season arrives in theatres. Get ready for the fun-filled #HiMovie, featuring #Nayanthara and @Kavin_m_0431 A @jenmartinmusic Musical. A film directed by @VishnuEdavan1"

The new date places the film in the same release window as Yash's Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, the period gangster film directed by Geetu Mohandas, which has been locked for an August 26 release.

The earlier released posters for Hi showed the two actors as possible neighbours, shot against the background of an apartment. The film's cinematography is by Rajesh Shukla, editing by Lokesh Kanagaraj's frequent collaborator Philomin Raj, music by Jen Martin, and art and stunt direction by Sekar B and Dinesh Kasi.

Nayanthara is also starring in Toxic, and Yash recently announced that she will be playing his sister in the film. At the recently held trailer launch of the film, Yash spoke about sharing screen space with the Tamil star for the first time. "It takes a lot of grace to choose this film and do what you've done. You're a Lady Superstar. You can run behind individual films, and I know what your market is, but when we came to you with this film, you didn’t have much time in terms of dates, but you committed so well. You look like the most badass sister anyone could have," said the actor.

Toxic will feature a stacked female ensemble, which comprises Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth.

Nayanthara will also be seen in a film opposite Salman Khan, which recently entered production in Mumbai. The as-yet untitled film, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, is pegged as a large-scale action entertainer, and will be Salman's follow-up to Maatrubhumi, which is currently awaiting release.

Kavin, on the other hand, was last seen in Tamil fantasy comedy Kiss and thriller Mask.
