On-Set Wardrobes | What Ranveer Brar, Rohan Shankar, Medhaa Rana and Benny Dayal Wear to Work

From relaxed layers to statement sneakers, four creatives redefine what it means to dress well today.

Ananya Shankar

Ranveer Brar (Chef & Restaurateur)

One of India’s most celebrated chefs, Ranveer Brar is known for his refined culinary sensibility and storytelling, both on screen and off it. From judging popular food shows such as MasterChef India (2010) to helming acclaimed restaurants such as Kashkan in Dubai, his approach to style mirrors his philosophy in the kitchen — thoughtful, easy and effortless.

Easy Layers

“For a regular day at work, it’s usually drawstrings, light linen shirts or sometimes a more boxed Japanese streetwear silhouette,” says Brar, who likes relaxed clothing that lets him move freely.

Comfort Kicks

The celebrity chef is most comfortable in his Crocs but also enjoys wearing Birkenstock sandals.

Time Keepers

He cherishes his watches the most, saying, “That’s the only space where I indulge a little.”

Understated Add-ons

He keeps it simple. His watch is the main element, and everything else works around it. “I don’t like over-accessorising,” he says. “It should feel effortless.”

Rohan Shankar (Writer & Screenwriter)

Known for his sharp, relatable storytelling, Rohan Shankar has worked across films — having written Luka Chuppi (2019), the National Award-winning Mimi (2021) and dialogues for the much-loved Saiyaara (2025) — bringing a grounded voice to contemporary Indian narratives. The writer is currently working on his upcoming film Haiwaan, and his personal style is all about ease and practicality at this time.

Daily Basics

“For me, style is all about comfort,” says Shankar. “As a writer, I don’t put too much thought or effort into what I wear. On a regular day, I usually go for a casual T-shirt or shirt with jeans.”

Everyday Sneakers

These days the screenwriter is mostly seen in his Converse All Star shoes. “They’re comfortable and go with almost anything,” he says.

Closet Comforts

While he doesn’t hold any one piece dear, Shankar values clothes that he’s worn for a long time and feels completely at ease in.

Functional Extras

“I mostly wear my Apple smartwatch,” he says. “It’s something I love because it’s very useful.”

Medhaa Rana (Actor & Model)

An emerging face in fashion and film, Medhaa Rana is quickly making her mark. Having played the lead role in London Files (2022), making her Bollywood debut with Border 2 (2026) and appearing in music videos with singers such as Armaan Malik and Anuv Jain, she’s booked and busy. And her personal style? Sporty, chic and very ’90s.

Off-duty Essentials

“I’m a comfort-first person when I’m off duty,” the young actor says. “You’ll usually find me in a great pair of jeans, a simple spaghetti top and sneakers.”

Sneaker Rotation

She lives in her Adidas Gazelles and Sambas, along with her Nike Dunk Lows. They’re shoes that she admits she could run for her life in, if she had to.

Inherited Treasures

“My most treasured piece is something vintage from my nani and my mom: Their saris and kurtas. I’ve kept most of them safely,” Rana says.

Minimal Touches

One thing about Rana is that she’s always wearing a watch, sometimes even on red carpets. When it comes to jewellery, she sticks to dainty studs and delicate pendants. Subtle, but intentional.

Benny Dayal (Singer & Performer)

A powerhouse performer, Benny Dayal brings the same high-energy sensibility to his wardrobe — equal parts functional and “earthy”. He’s known best for songs such as “Badtameez Dil” from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) and “Lat Lag Gayee” from Race 2 (2013).

Stage to Street

“I love to wear shorts, oversized T-shirts and sneakers; very, very generic sneakers,” says the singer.

Sneaker Staples

Dayal is loyal to his “huge” collection of Air Force Ones and Air Max 90s. “I wear the blue ones outside and also when I’m on stage,” he reveals.

Tailored Favourite

The most treasured piece in his wardrobe is a suit by Troy Costa: “The one person who constructs all my tuxes and suits. Anything he does is really special for me,” he says.

What’s More

“I recently started wearing jewellery. I wear one long earring and a small one,” Dayal says. “And yes, I have started collecting watches too.”

New Buys

Ranveer Brar: “My most recent purchase is a new set of Rolex Oyster Perpetuals.”

Rohan Shankar: “The last thing I bought were T-shirts from H&M.”

Medhaa Rana: “My most recent purchase is a navy-blue Ralph Lauren cap. I’m a little obsessed with it. I think I might get one in all colours.”

Benny Dayal: “I bought a watch, a Maurice Lacroix.”
