Today, at the trailer launch of Kajol's horror thriller titled Maa, part of Ajay Devgn's Shaitaan universe, the actors were asked to comment on actors demanding eight-hour working days as new mothers.

Since Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's upcoming Spirit, many reports had cited disagreements over working hours on set as a primary point of friction between the actor and the filmmaker.

Among other points of contention, Vanga was reportedly unhappy about Padukone's demand to only work for eight hours a day; this resulted in the female lead in Spirit being recast. The new lead actress in the Prabhas-starrer is Triptii Dimri.

On Tuesday, Vanga lashed out at an unnamed actor on X (formerly Twitter) calling them "unprofessional."

Amid the row, Padukone in an interview with Vogue Arabia said, "Whenever I'm faced with complicated or difficult situations, to be able to listen to my inner voice and just stand by decisions that really give me a lot of peace is when I feel most in equilibrium."

Actor and producer Ajay Devgn came out in his Singham Again co-actor's support by saying that an eight-hour shift is not an uncommon demand and that "people understand". The Raid 2 actor added, "Most of the honest filmmakers will not have a problem with this."

Devgn also pointed out that this demand isn't limited to new mothers saying, "Even apart from being a mother and working for eight hours, usually people have started working for eight hours in a shift. Most of the industry does understand all this."
