There were reports that Akshay Kumar was coming on board to collaborate with producer Dil Raju to remake the film in Hindi, with Anees Bazmee directing it.
Actor Akshay Kumar won't be starring in and producing the Hindi remake of the Telugu action comedy Sankranthiki Vasthunam, contrary to industry speculation. Headlined by Venkatesh Daggubati, the film released earlier this year in January.
There were reports that Kumar was coming on board to collaborate with producer Dil Raju to remake the film in Hindi, with filmmaker Anees Bazmee directing it.
However, Pinkvilla quoted a source who denied that the actor had agreed to the adaptation and stated that Kumar had merely watched the film recently with no intention of remaking it. "That said, Akshay and Anees Bazmee are indeed in talks for a potential collaboration on a different project," a source was quoted as saying.
Written and directed by Anil Ravipudi, Sankranthiki Vasthunam also featured Aishwarya Rajesh and Meenakshi Chaudhary and opened to generally positive reviews, emerging a success at the box-office.
On the work front, Kumar has a packed lineup ahead with titles, including two Priyadarshan directorial Haiwaan—co-starring Saif Ali Khan, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher—and the horror comedy Bhoot Bangla, in which he will star alongside Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi.
Apart from these, Kumar also has Bhagam Bhaag 2, Welcome To The Jungle, and Hera Pheri 3 in the lineup. The actor had, as usual, a string of releases this year, beginning with the aerial actioner Sky Force, Karan Johar-backed Kesari Chapter 2, the multi-starrer comedy Housefull 5 and the legal comedy drama Jolly LLB 3, co-starring Arshad Warsi, Saurabh Shukla, Huma Qureshi and Amrita Rao.
Bazmee, meanwhile, is trying to mount No Entry Mein Entry, the sequel to his 2005 hit No Entry. First announced in 2019, No Entry Mein Entry has undergone several casting changes over the years. Initially, the film was to feature Diljit Dosanjh, Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan, but the Punjabi singer-actor exited the project a few months ago.
