The CBFC's suggestion of cuts for 'Sitaare Zameen Par' was reportedly not accepted by Aamir Khan, who has backed the film.
Superstar Aamir Khan's upcoming comedy drama Sitaare Zameen Par seems to have hit a roadblock. According to reports, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested two cuts in the RS Prasanna directorial when it was submitted to the body for certification.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, CBFC suggested that the makers of Sitaare Zameen Par carry out two cuts in the film, which is gearing up for a grand release on June 20.
The suggestion, however, was not accepted by Khan, who has also backed the film. According to reports, the actor will meet the CBFC officials to sort out the issue as the film is due for release in the coming days.
The film will have a wide-scale release on June 20, expanding to as many as 3500 screens across India. Though the Hindi market for the film is pretty much clear, it will face competition in the Telugu market with Nagarjuna and Dhanush starrer Kuberaa.
Also starring Genelia Deshmukh, Sitaare Zameen Par is a remake of the 2018 Spanish film Champions. The film features Khan as a suspended basketball coach who must serve community service by helping a team of players with disabilities prepare for a tournament.
It is the second release for Khan post-pandemic after his 2022 drama Laal Singh Chadha, which was a box-office failure. The superstar would hope to score big with Sitaare Zameen Par, as his last hit was Dangal in 2015. His 2018 action-adventure drama Thugs of Hindostan had also bombed at the box office.

Sitaare Zameen Par is the second Hindi feature film of Prasanna, who had helmed the 2017 comedy drama Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. After this film, Khan will be seen in a special appearance in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie, scheduled to hit the big screens on August 15.
He will also reunite with the Tamil filmmaker for a high-octane superhero film, which will begin filming next year, and will then collaborate with Rajkumar Hirani for a new film.
