'Love & War' will feature a mega war sequence involving Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, which Sanjay Leela Bhansali will mount on a huge scale.
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic romantic drama Love & War might have to wait a little longer before it comes on the big screen. The team of the film, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, is currently mounting the ambitious project in full swing, but there could be a change in plan in its release date.
According to sources, Love & War might not be ready for a grand release by March 2026—the official date locked in by the makers.
"The current shooting timeline of Love & War involves a mega war sequence, which Bhansali will mount on a huge scale. But that will only be shot in November," a source told The Hollywood Reporter India.
"After the sequence is filmed, which promises to be of an epic scale involving Vicky and Ranbir, the team aims to wrap up by January 2026. It will be impossible for Love & War to finish post-production and come on the big screen two months later in March. So the film might get pushed," the source added.
THR India reached out to Bhansali Productions for a comment, but there was no response.
The Eid weekend of March 19, 2026, has been locked by two movies: Love & War and Yash's Toxic. Bhansali was the first to zero in on the March release date for Love & War, after the film was pushed from its original Christmas 2025 release.
Last year, during a chat with THR Talks, Bhansali had debunked industry buzz that Love & War is a modern-day adaptation of Raj Kapoor’s iconic film Sangam (1964).
"I love Sangam. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) is also like Sangam, where I tried to make Aishwarya Rai [Bachchan] into Vyjayanthimala, who’s the most beautiful woman on the Indian screen, according to me... I wish I had met him [Raj Kapoor] for five minutes. But [considering] all my love for Raj Kapoor, you never remake a great director’s classic," he had said.
