The poster highlights the family-drama register of the film, which is said to revolve around the transformative devotional journey a father embarks on as per his daughter's wishes. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the female lead, and supporting cast includes Sai Kumar, Ajay Ghosh, Ramesh Indira, Swasika, Meesala Lakshman, Rajkumar Kasireddy, Ramana Bhargav, Kishore Kancherapalem, Karthik Adusumalli and Mahesh.

Irumudi is written and directed by Shiva Nirvana, whose previous directorials include Kushi (2023), Tuck Jagadish (2021), and Majili (2019). The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Prior to the release date confirmation, the film's promotional rollout had included a first glimpse and a Ayyappa devotional song titled Irumudi Kattu. A second song from the film is set to release soon, ahead of the film's release.

Teja's role is a notable departure from the characters he has played before. In Irumudi, he plays a devoted father who, determined to protect his daughter at any cost, resolves to leave behind his drinking habits by taking Ayyappa Deeksha. The spiritual journey unfolds from there, pulling audiences into a story that is as much about inner transformation as it is about family.

Teja was last seen in the Telugu films Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi (2026) and Mass Jathara (2025).
