'Devara 2' Producer Dismisses Shelving Rumours: Reports

Amid speculations about the shelving of Devara 2, a sequel to the Jr NTR film of the same name (2024), producer Sudhakar Mikkilineni reportedly had a response at a recent event. "We will begin shooting for it in May this year. We plan to release it next year, in 2027. The film will surely be another blockbuster hit," he was quoted as saying by publications.

The film opened to mixed reviews in 2024, but went on to make a splash at the box office. The film, directed by Koratala Siva and co-starring Saif Ali Khan, Prakash Raj, Janhvi Kapoor, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Narain, Murali Sharma, and Abhimanyu Singh, had music by Anirudh Ravichander. THR India's review of the film reads, "At its most jealous, Devara: Part 1 can best be described as ‘Baahubali on the high seas’. A similar generational father-son tale unfolds in an aquatic setting...The film strives to be its own person by slipping in philosophies and subplots about fear, communism and divinity. There is some social commentary: Devara, unlike his British-battling ancestors, has to fight internal enemies (and demons) rather than external ones. It’s a mild reflection of a country that’s struggling to find an identity with nobody left to resist. But you can tell that the film doesn’t have much to add beyond that."

NTR was last seen in War 2, alongside Hrithik Roshan. The latest chapter in the YRF Spy Universe was released on August 14, clashing with Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie. NTR will also next be seen in Prashanth Neel's film. The makers of the film, Mythri Movie Makers, recently announced that the film has begun its next schedule.

According to a report in The Times of India, actor Prithviraj confirmed the title of Prashanth Neel’s next film. In an interview, promoting his recent release Sarzameen, the Malayalam actor reportedly noted that the film will be titled Dragon.
