Nagarjuna has opened up about the reception to 'Kuberaa' and said he was 'proud' of what the film team pulled off.
Filmmaker Sekhar Kammula's latest Tamil-Telugu drama thriller Kuberaa recorded terrific collections at the box office, netting a solid domestic total nearing the ₹50 crore mark. The film is led by Nagarjuna, Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna and others.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kuberaa had an opening day of ₹14.75 crore, of which the Telugu version alone contributed ₹10 crore, followed by ₹4.50 crore coming in from the Tamil version.
The film then recorded a jump of over 11 percent when it netted a Saturday of ₹16.5 crore followed by a steady Sunday growth of ₹17.62 crore. The three-day total of the film now stands at around ₹48 crore, and Kuberaa will comfortably cross the ₹50 crore mark on Monday.
Kuberaa has already crossed the India nett of Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran, which was around ₹40 crore and Madha Gaja Raja, which had clocked in ₹48 crore. Next up, it would hope to cross the collections of the hit Tourist Family (₹62 crore).
Earlier during the weekend, Nagarjuna had opened up about the reception to the film and said he was "overwhelmed" with the love coming his way for Kuberaa.
"Deepak will remain one of my most special characters. Looking at the audiences’ love, the reviews, and the box office response, I am just so touched. I've been fortunate to work across Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films and to get this love today, even after four decades of my career, is truly humbling. I'm proud of what team Kuberaa pulled off, and I am thankful to the entire cast and crew," the actor had said in a statement.
Post Kuberaa, Nagarjuna will be seen in a special role in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie, set to release in August. The film will have a box office clash with Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR's War 2.
