Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Prabhas-Triptii Dimri starrer Spirit has announced a new release date. The action thriller, which was set to be released on March 5, 2027, is now set to release worldwide on October 29, 2027, marking a Diwali arrival.
Vanga's announcement, made through a post on X, shared the new date along with a new poster, reading, "Check this out........ #Spirit #InSpiritMode @TSeries @VangaPictures #IndiasBiggestSuperStar 29TH OCTOBER DIWALI 2027 Worldwide RELEASE DATE"
The shift to Diwali 2027 sets up a potential box-office clash with Ramayana: Part 2, the second instalment of Nitesh Tiwari's mythological epic starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, which is scheduled for the same release window. With Spirit now pushed to this release window, there is speculation that Ramayana: Part 2 may be postponed for a later release. However, there has been no official communication about the same from the makers of the mythological epic.
The shift in release window was speculated following the announcement of the release of Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 for the same date. Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, the sequel to Dibakar Banerjee’s cult land-theft comedy, was previously scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 28, 2026, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, and is now set to arrive next year on March 5, 2027.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently confirmed that the upcoming film will receive an A certificate, making it clear that the film is not intended for a family audience. At the trailer launch of Venu Gopal Reddy's Romanchakam, the filmmaker remarked that the film's violent outlook makes up for the adult content.
Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Vanga, who last directed Ranbir Kapoor's Animal (2023). The films also stars Triptii Dimri and Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles, and is backed by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series.
The film also stars Kanchana, and Vivek Oberoi alongside Prabhas and Dimri. Spirit is produced by Pranay Reddy Vanga and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga under the Bhadrakali Pictures banner along with Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the T-Series Banner.
