'Mirage' Trailer: The Chase Begins In Jeethu Joseph-Asif Ali's Intriguing Mystery Thriller
The 100-second-long trailer leaves several questions unanswered.
Filmmaker Jeethu Joseph has cut yet another intriguing promo for his upcoming film, Mirage. The Malayalam-language film stars Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali and the trailer has already amassed close to one million views so far on YouTube.
The film appears to centre on the search for a man named Kiran, who hasn’t yet returned after going on a journey. Asif Ali’s character is that of an investigative reporter trying to help find this missing person, while actor Sampath seems to be on the same search as well.
Edited by Vinayakh, the trailer shows central characters opening several doors and locks right through, suggesting that they’re all trying to uncover some secrets constantly. We also see them looking for a secret key in the thriller said to be set primarily in Tamil Nadu. The trailer ends with an action sequence set in a forest, perhaps as Asif Ali gets closer to unearthing the mystery.
The upcoming thriller also stars Hakim Shahjahan, Hannah Reji Koshy and Sampath. Mirage is the sixth collaboration between Ali and Balamurali, who were last seen in Kishkinda Kaandam (2024). Joseph directed Ali in Kooman (2022), which was about a police officer who finds himself drawn to committing crimes. The tagline on Mirage's poster read, "Fades As It Gets Closer", linking the subject to its title.
The cinematographer of Mirage is Satheesh Kurup, with V S Vinayak as the editor. The music by Vishnu Shyam. The film is produced by Mukesh R Mehta, Jatin M Sethi and C V Sarathi.
Asif Ali recently acted in the musical-comedy Sarkeet and the comedy-drama Abhyanthara Kuttavali. Meanwhile, Joseph is working on Valathu Vashathe Kallan, starring Biju Menon and Joju George in the lead. Apart from this, he will also be starting Drishyam 3, which is scheduled to enter production in October.
