The Mohanlal and Shobhana revenge thriller is also set to cross the ₹100 crore mark in India
Mohanlal’s critically and commercially acclaimed Malayalam film Thudarum has raked in ₹200 crores at the worldwide box-office. The makers of the film, including actor Mohanlal, announced the news on their social media handles.
“200 Crores, thank you! #Thudarum. Some journeys don't need noise, just hearts to carry them forward. Thudarum has found its place in millions of hearts across the world, breaking all the box office records in Kerala. Gratitude for all the love,” the screen icon captioned a post on X.
The film has also officially overtaken 2018 to become the highest-grossing film of all time in Kerala.
The Tharun Moorthy directorial is reportedly set to cross the ₹100 crore mark at the Indian box-office shortly. When that happens, it would be the second Mohanlal film this year, after L2: Empuraan, to achieve the feat.
Globally, Thudaram earlier achieved a significant milestone earlier by grossing ₹100 crore worldwide within just six days of its release on April 25. The film has been widely appreciated for its compelling narrative, emotional depth, and Mohanlal’s standout performance, hailed by many as a return to form after a spate of underwhelming roles.
Produced by M. Renjith under the Rejaputhra Visual Media banner and presented by Antony Perumbavur’s Aashirvad Cinemas, Thudarum marks a powerful comeback for the iconic Mohanlal-Shobhana duo, whose professional partnership spans over 50 films such as Nadodikkattu (1987), Manichitrathazhu (1993), Pakshe (1994), and Pavithram (1994). Their on-screen reunion created palpable excitement among fans, and the film’s strong performance at the box-office stands testament to the enduring charm of this celebrated pairing. The film’s cast also includes Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, and Irshad Ali in pivotal roles.
