Veteran actor Dharmendra is admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where he is currently under observation and responding to treatment, according to his family. The 89-year-old legend was hospitalised on November 10 after experiencing respiratory issues, a week after he had visited the same hospital for a routine health check-up. Family members have clarified that he remains stable and urged the media to refrain from circulating unverified reports of his death.

Taking to X, Dharmendra's wife and Member of Parliament Hema Malini expressed outrage at the spread of misinformation. “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy,” she wrote.

On Tuesday morning, following a spurt of media alerts, public personalities including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and veteran writer Javed Akhtar tweeted their condolences, leading to further confusion.

Known for landmark films like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, and Satyakam, Dharmendra is regarded as one of Indian cinema’s greatest actors. Late last night, Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan visited the hospital to check on his condition.
