ELIGIBILITY & METHODOLOGY
To be considered for this list, an actor must have appeared in at least two streaming originals — series or films — since 2023, with at least one of those in a lead role. Projects originally commissioned for theatrical release but redirected to streaming were excluded; however, productions where the theatrical-versus-streaming decision had not yet been made at the point of commissioning were counted. All candidates were required to be 50 years of age or younger as of 31 March 2026.
For each eligible actor, every streaming original they featured in between January 2023 and March 2026 was classified as either a lead role or an ensemble/supporting role. Viewership figures were sourced from Ormax StreamView, drawn from weekly audience research conducted by Ormax Media, and an average viewership was calculated across all qualifying titles for each actor. A weightage of 1.00 was applied to lead roles and 0.50 to ensemble or supporting appearances. Franchise properties were assigned an additional weightage of 0.50 — as against 1.00 for non-franchise titles — to account for the inherent viewership pull that an established franchise brings.
A gross weighted viewership score was arrived at for each actor using these parameters, which was then divided by the total weightage to produce a Net Score. The 10 actors who ranked highest on that score made the final list.
Bhuvan Bam
From performing in Delhi eateries to becoming one of India’s biggest digital stars, Bhuvan Bam’s rise is one for the books. He became the first Indian YouTuber to cross 2 million subscribers with BB Ki Vines (now over 26 million), before expanding his universe with the YouTube show Dhindora (2021), where he played 10 characters. Later, he made a confident streaming leap with the two-season show Taaza Khabar on JioHotstar, serving as both producer and lead.
Among the rare creators to successfully bridge YouTube and OTT, Bam is now setting his sights on an even bigger arena — films, as he is set for his debut, Kuku Ki Kundali, a romantic comedy backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
Emraan Hashmi
Emraan Hashmi’s second innings as a content star has been a class act to follow. Once famously branded the “serial kisser” of Hindi films, he has steadily reinvented himself through roles that found their widest resonance on OTT.
He was the Shakespeare-quoting lead of Bard of Blood, a 2019 Netflix action series. The actor then turned wry and self-aware as an embattled studio head in Showtime (2024). His cheeky, self-alluding cameo in The Ba***ds of Bollywood, the Aryan Khan-directed series, paid hearty tribute to his “serial kisser” legacy while casting a fresh spell on a new generation.
Most recently, Hashmi was the calm, capable centre of Neeraj Pandey’s Taskaree, a smuggling drama that became the first Indian show to top Netflix’s global non-English television list.
There is a relaxed bounce to a Hashmi performance that makes him endlessly watchable.
Jaideep Ahlawat
There aren’t many characters Jaideep Ahlawat hasn’t played on OTT. A hardened Haryanvi cop in Amazon Prime Video’s Paatal Lok (2020 - ), a drug lord and a mercenary in Family Man Season 3 (2026), and a lecherous godman in Netflix’s Maharaj (2025).
As a prominent face in Indian streaming, Ahlawat is contouring and constantly redefining modern digital entertainment for audiences demanding something different. A graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune, Ahlawat who was last seen in Season 2 of Netflix’s Kohrra earlier this year in a blink-and-miss-cameo, will next be seen in Sudip Sharma’s upcoming Netflix show.
Jitendra Kumar
The fact that he’s still called Jeetu bhaiya, almost seven years after his breakout role in Kota Factory is proof of the impact he was able to create as the teacher all of us deserved but never had. He went on to star in several similar film series and films, becoming the first set of actors to reach superstardom in the OTT space.
Since then, shows such as Panchayat (into its fourth season) are the reason why people subscribe to OTT platforms in the first place. The IIT graduate has starred in several shows and movies that defined the OTT space for most, especially during its rise in the Covid era.
Proof of this is his role in the upcoming OTT-to-big screen movie, Mirzapur.
Karan Tacker
Karan Tacker has become something of a mainstay on streaming, thanks to his recurring role as Farooq Ali in the many seasons of Special Ops, arguably the most watched television series on OTT. The series, directed by A Wednesday filmmaker Neeraj Pandey, brought back Tacker after an acting sabbatical that lasted almost seven years.
Tacker was most recently seen in the 2025 film, Tanvi the Great playing the role of Captain Samar Raina, making his big screen debut other than starring Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery and featuring in Special Ops 2.
Pankaj Tripathi
Pankaj Tripathi has been something of a pioneer when it comes to the OTT boom. Having started the craze with his performance as Kaleen Bhaiya in Amazon Prime Video’s Mirzapur, the actor has continually been at the forefront of shows and movies that drive traffic towards streaming.
This extends beyond any one platform with blockbuster shows such as Criminal Justice on Jio Hotstar, and a central role in Sacred Games 2 on Netflix. With these, he’s become hot property not only on the small screen but also transforming himself into one of India’s most valuable actors. His next is director Varun V. Sharma’s Parivarik Manu Ranjan co-starring Aditi Rao Hydari.
Shahid Kapoor
Shahid Kapoor’s streaming debut with Raj & DK’s Farzi wasn’t just the most-watched Indian web series of all time at the time of release in 2023, but it was also a title that gave Kapoor an avenue to showcase the varied nuances of his craft.
Kapoor is Sunny in Farzi, a disillusioned hustler whose life is upturned when he decides to make counterfeit money with his friend. His other streaming title Bloody Daddy, a remake of the popular 2011 French film Sleepless Night, had a direct release on JioCinema. With Farzi Season 2 in the works, admirers of the actor have a lot more sides of him left to see.
Sonakshi Sinha
Sonakshi Sinha has emerged as a compelling force on the Indian streaming landscape. In the acclaimed procedural series, Dahaad, she played a small-town cop navigating prejudice and cynicism as she tracks a string of eerie disappearances. Her gritty, tough-as-hide performance anchored the Rajasthan-set series created by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar.
A year later, in 2024, she changed gears in Heeramandi, delivering a commanding antagonist totally in sync with the old-world tenor of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s show. She stood out in a busy ensemble and was recognised with a Filmfare OTT Award for the series. Sinha’s performances emit a quiet blaze. Right now, her horizons feel the widest on streaming.
Vijay Sethupathi
Not unlike his co-star Shahid Kapoor, actor Vijay Sethupathi has made perfect use of the streaming space to complement his big-screen acting. He made his streaming debut with Raj & DK’s Farzi as Michael Vedhanayagam IPS, a troubled cop who is given renewed purpose by the swindling Sunny, who counterfeits money.
In a surprise crossover, the actor made a cameo in the latest season of Family Man, returning as Michael Vedhanayagam, establishing the director duo’s spy universe. The actor, who is also the television host of popular reality show Bigg Boss Tamil, was last seen in Manikandan’s searing Tamil thriller on JioHotstar, Muthu Engira Kaattaan (2026). The actor will next be seen in Farzi 2.
Vijay Varma
Vijay Varma belongs to a generation of actors who truly came into their own with streaming. Longform storytelling offered range and complexity, and Varma responded with intelligence and zip. He delivered an unsettling, poison-tipped performance as an abusive husband in Darlings (2022), then went on to play a mercurial cop in Jaane Jaan, an icy, unflappable serial killer in Dahaad, and a pilot under siege in IC 184: The Kandahar Hijack. With notable turns in Kalkoot and Mirzapur, and most recently as a grounded, fair-handed gambling operative in Matka King, Varma has built a diverse body of work, crafting characters that win the audience’s trust — then subvert it.
