At the 79th Cannes Film FestivalTara Sutaria talks to THR India about her upcoming film Toxic, giving us her honest thoughts about its delayed release. As it turns out, Sutaria prefers to see the situation in a positive light, acknowledging that delays can be important for a film to be truly accepted in the way it is intended to be.

Starring Kannada superstar Yash and a large ensemble, Toxic was slated it to arrive in cinemas on March 19 but vacated the date for a June 4 global release. When it comes to making peace with the long waiting times, Sutaria believes it is always about the “bigger picture.” She says, “I’m very patient as a person. I don’t look at it as, if it doesn’t release right away what will happen to me." She also feels it is important to understand and realize that “you can’t look at the film as yours. It doesn’t belong to you. It is everybody’s that created it.”

Sutaria says she has also come to understand that a delay should not always be seen as detrimental. “I also understand that I am here to do my job as an actor, beyond which I don’t think I have the understanding that a producer has, or perhaps our director has. There are reasons for a delay, and I think they are very valid,” she says.

She adds empathises with “everyone’s eagerness to watch the film” and that she shares the same sentiment. “Trust me, I feel the same way,” she assures. “There’s lots of valid reasons, and I think it’s for the betterment of the film and for it to be embraced the way that we hope it will be embraced. I think it’s definitely worth the wait,” she says.
