Producer Guneet Monga Kapoor has revealed that Sikhya Entertainment currently has three women-led films in development, all of which are set to go on floors soon. Speaking to Anupama Chopra for The Hollywood Reporter India at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, Monga shared that the projects continue Sikhya’s long-standing commitment to backing stories from the margins of mainstream Bollywood.

Reflecting on the kind of cinema she inclines towards, Kapoor said, “I like to do things that I have access to. I work in my access — that is the periphery of Bollywood.” She also spoke about “constantly doubling down on things people tell you not to do,” adding that those instincts have shaped Sikhya’s identity over the years.

Guneet also confirmed that the Sikhya’s collaboration with acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj has now entered post-production, although she refrained from revealing further details about the project.

Apart from the women-led films, Sikhya is also backing a “full-on spy comedy” with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film, titled Udta Teer, stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, and is currently slated for a theatrical release on September 11, 2026.

Sikhya Entertainment and Dharma Productions have previously collaborated on projects like The Lunchbox, starring Irrfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur, and Kill, a brutal actioner starring Lakshya.

Speaking about her continued association with Cannes, Kapoor described the festival as an important learning space for her. “What excites me the most and (the reason I end up) coming every year, is to be a student of cinema,” she said, adding that every edition of the festival leaves her with a different experience and perspective.

She also reflected on fulfilling her long-standing desire to back an action film with Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s Kill, which was reportedly inspired by real-life train robberies and a personal experience the director had while travelling by train. The producer emphasised continuing to back genre-driven stories in the future.
