The Megastar was thanking police efforts to curb movie piracy when he commented on 'Game Changer'
A team of Telugu cinema stalwarts, including Megastar Chiranjeevi, SS Rajamouli and Nagarjuna, visited the Hyderabad City Police on Monday to congratulate their team on the arrest of a man named Immadi Ravi, who ran the illegal movie site iBomma.
In a press address right after the meeting, Chiranjeevi blamed sites such as iBomma for the underperformance of films such as Ram Charan’s Shankar-directed Game Changer, Pawan Kalyan’s OG and Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom. The leaked version of the recently-released HIT: The Third Case, led to the police crackdown of what is considered one the country’s biggest piracy sites, according to a report in The Hindustan Times.
Chiranjeevi said, “At the beginning of 2025, Dil Raju’s Game Changer, and later, films like Kingdom, Thandel, and OG, have all faced losses at the box office due to this man (Immadi Ravi),” he said.
In July of this year, one of the producers of Game Changer had commented about his film’s dismal performance. Producer Shirish Reddy discussed the damage caused to their morale after the failure of Shankar’s Game Changer.
In an interview with Great Andhra, he said, “Look at Sankranthiki Vasthunam and Game Changer (both films produced by his company). With Game Changer, we thought our lives were over. We got hope from Sankranthiki Vasthunam. Our lives changed within four days. If we didn’t have that, think of what would have happened to us now.” He also said, “When it (Game Changer) flopped, did the hero help us? Did the director come to help us? No one even asked us how we were doing out of courtesy. I am not blaming anyone because we made the film out of our wish, and we faced losses. We have not come down to the stage of asking back remuneration."
Ram Charan's next film is Peddi. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film will feature an ensemble cast that includes Ram Charan, Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu Sharma, and Jagapathi Babu.
