Salman Khan Moves Delhi High Court for Protection of Personality Rights
The superstar's plea is scheduled to be heard on Thursday by Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora.
Superstar Salman Khan has approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights, reported news agency PTI. According to the report, the superstar has asked to restrain social media platforms and e-commerce websites from "unauthorisedly using his name, images, persona and likeness". Khan's plea is scheduled to be heard on Thursday by Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora.
The superstar joins a host of other celebrities, including Akkineni Nagarjuna, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Ajay Devgn, filmmaker Karan Johar, among others, who also approached the high court seeking protection of their personality and publicity rights, with the HC granting them interim relief. According to the report, JR NTR also approached the Delhi High Court for the same, but the court is yet to pass an order on his plea.
On the work front, Khan will be next seen as an army officer in his upcoming war drama Battle of Galwan. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Battle of Galwan is based on 'India’s Most Fearless', the bestselling book by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, chronicling the Galwan Valley confrontation between Indian and Chinese forces in June 2020 — one of the most severe border clashes in over four decades.
In the film, Khan is set to portray Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu, the commanding officer who led his men during the encounter. The film went on floors earlier this year in Leh-Ladakh, where Khan shot for some gruelling battle sequences.
In the Galwan Valley conflict, at least 20 Indian soldiers were killed, with nearly 45 Chinese casualties. In September 2020, for the first time in 45 years, shots were fired along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
This will be the first collaboration between Khan and Lakhia, known for films like Shootout at Lokhandwala, Mission Istaanbul, and Ram Charan's Hindi debut Zanjeer.
