Aamir Khan's 'Sitaare Zameen Par' had an excellent second weekend, performing better than the new releases, Kajol's 'Maa' and Brad Pitt-starrer 'F1'.
Superstar Aamir Khan's latest Sitaare Zameen Par showed a fantastic box-office hold in its second weekend as it put up solid collections on board. The RS Prasanna directorial comfortably crossed the ₹100 crore mark on Saturday and recorded better collections in its second weekend than the new releases, including Kajol's Maa and the Brad Pitt biggie F1.
On its second Friday, Sitaare Zameen Par netted ₹6.67 crore, which was bigger than the opening day of Maa, which was at ₹4.93 crore. The comedy drama then recorded a huge jump on Saturday, clocking in ₹12.55 crore, followed by a bigger Sunday where it netted ₹14.50 crore.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the 10-day total of Sitaare Zameen Par stands at a little over ₹122 crore, which is an excellent figure for a film of this genre, especially post-pandemic. According to trade estimates, the film will be eyeing its lifetime total anywhere between ₹175-185 crore depending on how it plays out in its second week.
Sitaare Zameen Par is a triumphant return for Khan, who struggled at the box office with his earlier films Laal Singh Chadha (2022) and Thugs of Hindostan (2018).
The film will face new competition this Friday as Anurag Basu's romantic-drama Metro In Dino hits the big screen. The film features Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, and Neena Gupta.
A spiritual sequel to Khan's 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par, the film also stars Genelia D'Souza. Sitaare Zameen Par features Khan as a suspended basketball coach who must serve community service by helping a team of players with disabilities prepare for a tournament.
Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the film features 10 debutants, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
