According to reports, the film's co-producer faces a lawsuit over alleged contractual breaches.
Prabhas's upcoming horror-comedy, The Raja Saab, is under hot water with its co-producer, People Media Factory, facing a lawsuit over alleged contractual breaches. According to reports, the Delhi-based Ivy Entertainment has filed a case in the Delhi High Court against co-producer People Media Factory (PMF) and its directors over breaches linked to The Raja Saab.
According to a report by Economic Times, the production house "failed to meet critical obligations, including completing and releasing the film on time, providing monthly production updates, disclosing fund utilisation, delivering agreed materials relating to the film and delaying the theatrical release multiple times."
Ivy Entertainment reportedly entered into a film rights acquisition and theatrical rights acquisition agreement with PMF in 2023. Under these agreements, according to the report, the media and entertainment company claims it invested about ₹218 crore in acquiring worldwide theatrical and non-theatrical rights along with contractual safeguards, including guaranteed returns and co-presenter credits.
Ivy Entertainment has now sought a refund of the amount it had invested, along with 18% annual interest. The report further added that the company sought the "court’s intervention to restrain PMF and its directors from claiming and exploiting any rights, title or interest in the film."
Backed by People Media Factory, The Raja Saab is produced by T.G. Vishwa Prasad. The Raja Saab has cinematography by Karthik Palani and music by Thaman S. Its cast includes Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Ridhi Kumar. The film is also touted to mark Prabhas' first horror title, and will be released in December in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. Prabhas will next be seen in Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa and Sandeep Vanga Reddy's Spirit.
At the teaser launch of the film, director Maruthi said that he wanted Indians to experience something different with the film. “I want to prove that we can make a Walt Disney film in India, too. I want them to experience that. Prabhas has always done comedy. He has a different kind of timing when doing comedy, and that’s why I want to show it to all of India. He’s purely a director's actor.”
