At Las Vegas’ annual convention, the studio showcased first looks at upcoming releases, with standout moments from Marvel’s ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps,’ the Bruce Springsteen biopic ‘Deliver Me from Nowhere,’ and James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash.’
The Walt Disney Studios dominated CinemaCon 2025 with a star-studded showcase of its upcoming theatrical slate, unveiling major projects across Marvel, Pixar, 20th Century Studios, and more. The event, held at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, featured exclusive footage, surprise celebrity appearances, and a tribute to filmmaker James L. Brooks, who received the Cinema Vérité Award.
Among the night’s biggest revelations was Deliver Me from Nowhere, a biographical drama chronicling the making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska album. Starring Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) as Springsteen and Jeremy Strong as his longtime manager, Jon Landau. Directed by Scott Cooper, the movie explores Springsteen’s artistic reinvention as he recorded one of his most haunting albums in a New Jersey bedroom with just a four-track recorder.
Marvel Studios sent shockwaves through the crowd with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, offering a glimpse at the highly anticipated reboot. The film will feature Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm). The film, described as a retro-futuristic take on Marvel’s first family, pits the team against the cosmic threat of Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25.
Pixar’s Zootopia 2 also generated buzz with an exclusive sneak peek introduced by Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once), who voices a new character, Gary De’Snake. The sequel sees Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) tackling their biggest case yet in an expanded, multi-layered Zootopia. New cast addition Quinta Brunson voices a quokka therapist, Dr. Fuzzby, who plays a pivotal role in the duo’s latest adventure. The animated feature is set for a November release.
Capping off the evening, director James Cameron appeared via video to tease Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third installment in his blockbuster sci-fi saga. Zoe Saldaña, reprising her role as Neytiri, joined the stage to present an extended look at Pandora’s next chapter, which promises an even deeper exploration of the planet’s lore. The film, set for a December release, continues the story of the Sully family as they face new existential threats.
Beyond these highlights, Disney’s presentation showcased an array of upcoming films: Lilo & Stitch (May 23), a live-action adaptation of the beloved 2002 animated classic; Freakier Friday (August), the sequel to Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reprising their roles; TRON: Ares (October), starring Jared Leto in the latest entry of the sci-fi franchise; The Amateur (April 10), an espionage thriller led by Rami Malek; Predator: Badlands (November), a futuristic installment in the Predator franchise; The Roses (August), a reimagining of The War of the Roses starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch, and Andy Samberg; and Thunderbolts (May 1), a Marvel anti-hero ensemble film featuring Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan.
With this diverse slate, Disney reaffirmed its commitment to theatrical spectacle by ensuring audiences have plenty to look forward to in the months ahead.
