The film will reunite Nandamuri Balakrishna with Gopichand Malineni after their outing in 'Veera Simha Reddy'
Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna has Akhanda 2 ready for release in less than 10 days, but the actor has already moved into his next project.
Balakrishna's NBK111 officially began this week, directed by Gopichandh Malineni. The film will reunite Nandamuri Balakrishna with Malineni after their outing in Veera Simha Reddy (2023), which co-starred Shruti Haasan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Balakrishna in a double role. NBK111 also stars Nayanthara who has worked with Balakrishna on films including Simha (2010), Sri Rama Rajyam (2011), and Jai Simha (2018).
The new posters indicate that Balakrishna will once again essay a dual role in the film. The film's production kicked off after a pooja, and this project also marks the second production venture of Vriddhi Cinemas after Peddi. The rest of the cast and crew is yet to be announced, though it is expected that Thaman will come on board as composer.
Director Gopichand has been working on this script ever since the release of his last Hindi film Jaat, and reports state that NBK111 will be a pan-Indian epic, with the storyline travelling across two timelines, one ancient and the other being present day. Nayanthara's role is also speculated to be that of a fierce warrior princess. The team is aiming for a major festival release in 2026, with a lot of VFX work needed in post-production.
Balakrishna was last seen in Daaku Maharaaj (2025) alongside Urvashi Rautela. Nayanthara, on the other hand, will next be seen in Patriot, Mahesh Narayanan's film alongside Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban.
In other news, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa, will celebrate two towering figures of Indian cinema this year. Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan announced that Rajinikanth and Nandamuri Balakrishna would be felicitated at the festival’s closing ceremony for completing 50 years in the industry.
