Directed by Aanand L Rai, 'Tere Ishk Mein' will now have to pass the Monday test, which will determine its lifetime trending.
Filmmaker Aanand L Rai's romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein had a solid opening weekend at the Indian box office, as the Dhanush-Kriti Sanon starrer stormed past the ₹50 crore mark in three days.
On Friday, Tere Ishk Mein opened to an excellent ₹15.06 crore in Hindi, despite mixed reviews. The film then recorded a marginal jump on Saturday when it netted ₹16.57 crore. On the third day, the romantic drama recorded a bigger jump when it netted ₹19.32 crore. The three-day total of the film stands at ₹50.95 crore.
Written by Himanshu Sharma and Neeraj Yadav, Tere Ishk Mein also stars Prakash Raj, Ravi Kishan and Priyanshu Painyulli. With music by AR Rahman and lyrics by Irshad Kamil, Tere Ishq Mein has already become a success with the weekend collections it has put up, but its Monday hold will determine if it gets the hit tag. If the film doesn't record a huge dip, it should be on course for a good weekday.
Tere Ishk Mein joins the list of other Hindi romantic films that have worked well this year, including Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda's Saiyaara—the Mohit Suri directorial grossed over 500 crore worldwide—and filmmaker Milap Zaveri's Ek Deewane ki Deewaniyat starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa.
The T-Series and Colour Yellow-backed film, however, will face huge competition this Friday when Ranveer Singh-led espionage action thriller Dhurandhar releases. Directed by Aditya Dhar — known for his 2019 blockbuster debut Uri: The Surgical Strike — the film is riding on good pre-release buzz and will hit screens globally on December 5.
Apart from Singh, the film features a powerful ensemble cast consisting of Arjun Rampal as ISI Major Iqbal ('The Angel of Death'), R Madhavan as intelligence strategist Ajay Sanyal ('The Chariot of Karma'), Akshaye Khanna as Rehman Dakait ('The Apex Predator'), and Sanjay Dutt as Chaudhary Aslam ('The Jinn').
